MISSION & MINISTRY
Arcana Caeli is Latin for the “Mysteries of Heaven”. Our desire is to draw attention upwards from the darkness of this world towards the heavenly light and glorious beauty which God offers us in His Holy Catholic Church. There is no place in the world more glorious than Mother Church, as She is the Kingdom of heaven on earth. Through Her Sacraments and teachings, this light pours into souls and orders lives to Christ. The Church is the Holy of Holies through which we see glimpses of the “Mysteries of Heaven” and encounter Divine Beauty.
We have placed this mission and ministry, Arcana Caeli, under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. With her guidance and direction, we pray for the grace to infuse heavenly glory into a culture that is becoming increasingly ugly by the day. Although art is downstream from culture, it also plays a role in shaping lives. Sadly, modern art is mostly lifeless, as it is mostly Godless, like our culture. Art is to attract us upward to the splendor of Heaven, not downward toward sin and temptation. Christ must be the focal point of each element of our culture, but especially in the visual, performative and musical arts.
As little soldiers for Our Lord, we feel called to flood society with genuine and Christ-inspired music, reaching the empty ears and hungry hearts of a spiritually starved generation. We pray that through these songful stories of salvation, The Holy Spirit will ignite a spark that will inspire spiritual revival & sacramental renewal in the souls of many.
The music we’ve created might
sound like music of this world…but listen closer and you’ll discover that it’s not anything like the music of our times. The lyrics, written through prayer and study, are an attempt to express God's revelation to us. He calls, but do we listen? The ravishing beauty of our Catholic Faith finds its height in the lives of the saints, the doctrines and Sacraments of the Faith, the words of Sacred Scripture, the heart of the Blessed Virgin, and the earthly life of Jesus Christ, which all reveal heavenly mysteries. We must continue to draw attention to these mysteries any way we can. We aim to infuse Catholicism into modern music in hopes that more people will come in contact with the Author of these truths.
Our desire is to reach people who otherwise may not come into contact with traditional forms of sacred music. We do not claim to produce sacred music in the sense that Gregorian Chant is, it’s not even comparable. Nevertheless, we pray that God will use Arcana Caeli to enlighten a darkened world by bringing timeless tradition to new life in an unconventional way.
